If you are looking for quick and easy ways to clean your house, then you are in the right place. We have compiled our top 20 hit list of cleaning tips that you can take-away and use right now!
Cleaning Your Microwave
One of the grimiest jobs in a kitchen is cleaning your microwave, especially if you have left it a while since the last clean. Well, we have a quick and easy tip. Fill a mug of water and squeeze half a lemon into it and then put the other half into the cup. Crank up your microwave to the highest setting and blitz it for around 2 minutes.
What happens in that couple of minutes is the lemon and water mix, to both add a nice smell to the microwave but to also make it easier to wipe off dirt and grime as the hot water will turn into steam inside your microwave.
Cleaning Your Toilet
Another job that we don’t fancy doing is the toilet. Who wants to put their hand inside the toilet bowl at the end of the day?
Well, we can make it easier for you!
Got a few cans of coke lying around? Remember the old 2p trick as a kid?
Pour a can of coke down the toilet and leave it for 12 – 24 hours (probably best overnight), and then give it a scrub the next morning before flushing it. You will notice that the coke has removed the toilet stains and given it an instant shine.
Remove Rust From Kitchen Utensils
If you have noticed rust creeping onto some of your kitchen utensils and cutlery then it might be time to pick up an onion and remove those rust stains. Either stick the rusted parts into an onion for 5 minutes or for stubborn rust marks you might want to actual cut an onion in half and rub the rusted area.
Bring Back White Shirts!
White shirts can overtime become dull and faded, turning grey or yellow. To combat this and to make your whites white again grab a lemon from your fruit bowl. Squeeze the juice of the lemon into 4 litres of hot water, and soak your clothes in it for about an hour.
Once soaked throw them into the washing machine and put it on a spin dry. You will notice that your whites have come back to life.
Remove Sticker Stains with Vinegar
Vinegar can come in handy for many household cleaning operations but did you know it can also lift sticker marks?
If you have kids you will know exactly what I mean here, as kids love nothing more than placing stickers over all kinds of things – from laminate floors, door handles, work tops and walls. Dab the sticker marks with a vinegar soaked sponge and leave the sticker marks to soak for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes they should be ready to wipe clean – and the vinegar won’t cause any damage to the surface either!
This brings part 1 to an end, stay tuned for another set of our top five picks.
